Penalties for State Crimes in Ohio

Both misdemeanors and felony convictions come with harsh penalties, including jail time, fines, and mandatory sentences. Crimes are classified on a scale, with the worst being a first-degree crime. For a misdemeanor, this can mean up to 180 days in jail and up to $1,000 in fines, and for a felony, you could face 3 to 11 years in prison, with up to $20,000 in fines, for offenses such as rape or manslaughter.
